Marilyn Simpson was a teacher, teaching hundreds of children over her career, and giving them a start in life and learning. Host Barry Neylon talks to Marilyn about her journey from a horseradish farm to the classroom, and the lessons she learnt along the way.
You might know Marilyn from her radio show “Easy Does It” on PBAFM, or from her involvement in the Gawler Writers’ Group, or from one of the many interviews she has done for the Gawler Community Broadcasting Association, but today Marilyn talks to Barry about the early years of her life, from playing around the hills near hear parents farm to her time at primary school, from leading the Tea Tree Gully “riff-raff” into Birdwood High, to her first teaching job as a teenager away from friends and family in Mt Gambier.
To Marilyn teaching was a ‘noble calling’ and one she answered, but before she was ready to teach others, Marilyn had her own early learning to do.
