The GOHP Advisory Group, based on the recommendations of the Oral History Australia – the peak body for the compilation of oral histories in Australia, which states that

Oral history relies very much on respect and good manners. An interview is a demanding process and the interviewer is in an honoured position when someone agrees to share their experiences and knowledge”,  (Guide to Oral History, 2016, p11)

and that,

an interview is all about the interviewee and managing the interviewee in a respectful manner”, (Guide to Oral History, 2016, p11)

undertakes

that this guiding principle will inform and underscore the decision making practices and procedures that are put in place to complete the project
