(recorded 5th September 2018)
Welcome to the Classic Cult TV Club, (CCtvC). This month Justin, Janette, Lisa, Alex, Gypsy and Angus discuss an episode from a TV series that the younger members grew up with and loved rather than the older members. Made in the late eighties/early nineties, children’s fantasy series Round the Twist, has a distinctive Aussie flavour. Based upon the short stories of Paul Jennings, the series was noted for its unreserved approach to many taboo subjects. We discuss episode five from series one, Spaghetti Pig Out which involves a spaghetti eating competition and a remote control with magical properties. The result is, to say the least, messy.
So does the episode hold up after thirty years? How does it reflect cultural changes and what do those who did not grow up with it think of it?
